Group Classes

 

VHOC offers a wide variety of group classes in various sports held at private locations throughout the San Fernando Valley. 

Obedience - Beginning Competitive

Curriculum:

The class is for teams who are interested in learning the basics of Competitive Obedience. The goal is to establish a solid foundation of attention, engagement and enjoyment for the exercises needed to obtain a Companion Dog or Beginner Novice title in AKC Obedience. Patti will be teaching heeling, stands, recalls, fronts and finishes along with ring entries and ringside etiquette for new exhibitors. The class will provide appropriate guidance for individual teams with a balanced use of methods conducive to learning. 

*Teams should have successfully completed a basic obedience and manners class or equivalent.

 

When:

Thursdays at 7:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

Location:

Held at private residence in Simi Valley.

Class Limits:

6 working teams per class. You do not have to be a member of VHOC to enroll in a class.

Obedience - Open / Utility Obedience

Curriculum:

This class is designed for dog and handler teams who want to work towards their CD/CDX/UD titles. The first half of class is a group setting, focusing on attention heeling, fine tuning footwork and handling skills, figure 8's, stand/moving stand for exam, recalls, straight and drop, fronts/finishes, distractions, plus sits & downs. In the second half of class, students will work on Open and Utility exercises. All dogs should have a good, solid foundation, possibly obtained by completing the Beginning Competitive Obedience Class taught by Patti Rovtar.

 

When:

Thursdays at 8:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.

Location:

Held at private residence in Simi Valley.

Class Limits:

6 working teams per class. You do not have to be a member of VHOC to enroll in a class.

Agility - Skills & Drills

Curriculum:

This class will focus on shorter sequences focusing on particular skill sets;  Weaves, threadles, backsides, discrimination, and much more. The instructor will create customized exercises and goals for dog & handler teams of multiple skill levels.

 

When:

Mondays at 6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.

 

Location:

Held at a private location in Reseda.

Class limits:

8 working teams per class.
